MANKIND

Through centuries, humanity has evolved.

Embracing social and technology revolution we changed our living style with the belief to improve it, but is it really like that? And at which cost?

Mankind Lights & Shadows of Indonesia” is a photo documentary on how the old traditions of the Indonesian culture can coexist together with the modern society’s comforts imposed by the insane tourism impact this country is facing (especially in the island of Bali), and which would be the risk or impact on the locals communities if they disappear.

It has been a photo project that slowly came to life without even realize it.

Living in Bali, I love to take portraits of strangers during their daily life by using a more open focal length (such as 24mm or 35mm) to enhance the storytelling behind the shot. Photos that, through the years, start to cumulate in my hard-drives and that I realize could be the right moment to combine together in a unique project, with a strong storytelling impact.

An ancient culture, where the spirituality becomes one with the nature.

Mystical temples built into the deep of the jungle in such an harmonious way that feel made by mother nature herself instead of men.

DANCING

WITH FIRE & SMOKE..

In the Balinese culture and rituals, fire and smoke, together, cleanse and burn away negative energy and exorcise bad spirits.

FIRE to bear witness to the ritual ceremonies, rising SMOKE to deliver the intent of the prayers.
